the state of things

This website is a reminder that people migrate for a variety of reasons and that Irish people have done the same for generations. As a land and people with a long history of enduring and resisting violence, it is shocking and shameful how those arriving to our shores today are being treated.

We are in a housing and cost-of-living crisis, and we know who is to blame. Anyone who claims that the fault lies with people seeking asylum or “economic immigrants” is failing to see the bigger picture.

The government has the means to provide for us all, it just doesn’t have the will. Its motivations align with what big corporations want at our expense.

They make decisions which place the interests of private housing companies and individual landlords above the people they have an obligation to serve and provide for.

It is important that we remember that 32 of the 174 TDS in the Dáil today are landlords and another 29 own multiple properties.

While the government appeal to big corporations by giving them massive tax breaks, 17000 of our homeless are stuck in overcrowded emergency accommodation.

Our government would rather line the pockets of the rich with our money to the rich, instead of using our money to provide for us.
